Week 5 EOC: Social Networks and Job Hunting

More companies are trying to tap Facebook Inc.'s 750-million-plus user base to find new employees, threatening traditional job boards and competing with LinkedIn Corp., which has dominated the online professional networking arena. With this being said, Facebook has impacted everyone, just yesterday Facebook stocks grew and its going to continue to grow in the next few years. Facebook isn't going anywhere, and it's pretty smart if companies want to do hiring through a Facebook platform. Other sites are helpful in finding information and attaching resumes but people are connecting through social medie these days as well as seeing promotions on Facebook.  Others note that while LinkedIn contains a more comprehensive résumé database, candidates tend to value referrals from their connections on Facebook more. Facebook is letting people connect with celebrities, managers, and all type of people that can provide opportunities, just by liking a company's Facebook page, you now have access to this companies post rather then being connected by logging onto their website. "While I wish every company used Monster, social is a solution that many people are using," he said.

Week 4 EOC: There's an App for that

The type of App I have came up with will be an App that can literally tell you if there's a spirit or some type of deceased person either with you, near you, or possibly a few miles away. We see that there are apps that monitor the direction of a cop car, there are medium that can physically feel a spirit and are able to communicate with them. Technology is extremely advancing, and its only going to continue to grow and grow. Ghost stories have been around for generations, and that have kinda been trending these days. There are plenty of shows and movies about them. We have also been able to come up with technology that can monitor ghost or even as we may "think" able to understand their words. So why not come up with an App that can let you know, Hey! I'm near by, or you're heading into my direction. We have came so obsessed with spirits that some of us have been a bit frightened to even think that we may be around certain spirits. Personally speaking, I wouldn't want to move into a place where there are creepy happenings. The app can serve as a safety measure, or it could probably even help the popular Ghost Hunters. Lets call it, Are You Afraid?
I also thought about maybe an app that could communicate with animals, I recently saw a documentary about Sea World, and how their company comes across to the killer whales. If only there was something out there that could tell us how they feel and we could comprehend what they are trying to tell us. I think this way, there could be justice for animals, especially the ones that are decreasing, we want to be able to save our animals, not kill them to extinction, this way we are able to properly care for them if they do live in zoo's and water parks. This app wouldn't just help protect them, but it can even protect us when we are in dangerous situations. Just to assure these animals we mean no harm to them.

Week 3 EOC: Making money for good

Nike has been helping girls since the moment girls wanted to be athletes, they are the ones on which Nike started the Just Do It movement. Now, they have started a new movement. The Nike Foundation leverages the power of insights; innovation and inspiration to stop the cycle of inter-generational poverty. As a company, Nike believes in the power of human potential. In the two minutes it will take for you to read this, 54 girls between the ages of 10 and 18 will give birth. Ninety percent of these girls are child brides. Four of them will die from pregnancy complications. There are 250 million adolescent girls living in poverty today, and we believe they are the most powerful force for change on the planet.  When we include girls in education, health and economic investments, we give them choice and opportunity: choice over when they marry and start having children and opportunity to realize their full economic and social potential. Investing in a girl — before she is married, out of school, pregnant and HIV positive is the ultimate solution to end poverty, not a cure for its symptoms. But girls can't do it alone. They need the world to recognize them, listen to them and invest in their potential. Created by the Nike Foundation in collaboration with the Novo Foundation, United Nations Foundation and Coalition for Adolescent Girls, the girl effect leverages the unique potential of adolescent girls and provides them with resources to end poverty for themselves, their families, their communities, their countries and the world. The Nike Foundation is pioneering a new approach to development by creating insights-driven innovations, strategic partnerships and solutions that can be scaled to enable and equip adolescent girls to realize their potential. When a girl in poverty completes secondary school, marries and has her first child later, she helps to create economic growth, political and social stability.

Early in Nike's work, they issued Requests for Proposals where they noticed gaps in investment, based on what they learned from their partners and other experts. Frequently these involved seed grants or investments to replicate promising programs. Those prior investments helped Nike to understand where the greatest opportunities exist for girls. Their current investments target large-scale systems change that transforms girls’ environments. Nike works closely with our network of partners and collaborators to identify organizations with the capacity to bring about massive change.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

  • Cash cows  XBOX ONE, WII, and Playstation typically generate cash in excess of the amount of cash needed to maintain the business. They are regarded as staid and boring, in a "mature" market, and every corporation would be thrilled to own as many as possible. The reason why they are cash cows is because their growth is still continuing. There are families that enjoy having these system in their homes, I personally own all 3. They are also in this category because at the moment its the best thing until a new product comes along, like the PS4 as well as the new XBOX. Where your experience is custom tailored to you. And the entertainment you love is all in one place. Welcome to the all-in-one, Xbox One.
  • Dogs: Nintendo U and PC games are units with low market share in a mature, slow-growing industry. These units typically "break even", generating barely enough cash to maintain the business's market share. They are in this category because even though the Wii U is about a year old, its not doing as well as other concoles, they are not appealing, they are not advertising, if anything the only time I actually heard about the Wii U was in the holiday season last year. PC games have tremendously lost its value, people are not intuned to the type of game play anymore, with comsoles, and phone games we now only use our PC's for internet use.
  • Question marks  Android games and online games (also known as problem children) are business operating in a high market growth, but having a low market share. They are a starting point for most businesses. These are questions for me because the phone is becoming more popular by the minute, its already as popular as it could get but android games do not have a huge selection as the Iphone, so it could succeed or crash. Online gaming has positive sides, there are a few fames out there that are extremely popular, ex: Minecraft.
  • Stars Phone games, free games, Playstation 4  are units with a high market share in a fast-growing industry. They are successful question marks and become a market leader in a high growth sector.  Because the phone has become extremely popular, some games are free and others really cheap that are appealing to buy, they are games to pass time for a few minutes as well as to keep children entertained in some situations. The Playstaion 4 is having some really cool features that differentiate between the PS3, hence makes people want to buy it, its adapting to the new world of technology that will make people want it.

Week 1 EOC: MY VOICE

Fashion Professional! You see them all around, in T.V, magazines, with celebrities, absolutely everywhere, and then there’s me, how I am supposed to compete with all these professionals in the future. EASY! I know I’m extremely dedicated, I know that with my hard work, keeping my focus, and following my heart, I will make it one way or another. This is what I've wanted since 8th grade and I will keep on working on it until I've made it. I love everything that has to do with fashion, and even if I start off small and make my way up, I will know that I’m on the right path to success. I always get the “Why Fashion” question? Well, why do something for the rest of your life and be unhappy? Being a fashion professional is beneficial to me by being involved in something I enjoy rather then having to wake up every morning doing something I hate for years to come. I rather work in an environment that I’m passionate about and at the end, I wouldn't call it working. Fashion to me is being able to express yourself rather then having to say it, and I would love to help people be happy by what they wear, I want to be able to be apart of their happiness just by what they have on, you can make a million people feel good about themselves just by what they have on.
Being a fashion professional will give me my purpose in life, what everyone in the world searches for, I know I will find it by fulfilling my dreams, and while fulfilling those dreams, I will be making people happy. Making my dreams reality is also helping those people that need that little boost on loving who they are.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

A few weeks ago I went out to eat with my sister-in-law and my nephews. We were hungry for Applebees since it was the nearest dine in restaurant. I had a certain experience that my sister-in-law would not agree on, but it was a fairly good experience. As the waiter us to our seats, we all ordered and continue onto our conversation. Thirty-five minutes in, our appetizers hadn't arrived and everyone but me had become a little grumpy. The waiters kept checking on us with apologetic words because the food was taking quite some time.  The manager also came to our table and thanked us for being patient, next thing you know, our appetizers came around the same time that our food came. Everyone knows that appetizers are supposed to be ready before your main dish arrives, but I can be extremely patient and understanding. You may probably have walked out by now but patient and kindness can get you a few things. As my family and I were having our lunch, the manager walked to our table once again and told us that our appetizer was on them. The reason why I had a great customer experience was because the not only were the waiters apologetic, but the manager was also sorry for the wait. During the whole time, we were being checked on, our drinks were never halfway empty, they were courteous to us as the customer. This is what I enjoy when I go out to eat, I am treated kindly and acknowledge.Instead, it relies on customer service so good that customers not only come back but also tell their friends.
